Biography
Ignacio Duncan, born in 1997 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, is an artist whose journey into visual arts was significantly influenced by photography during his youth. Throughout his teenage years, he also experimented with different materials, getting familiar with its compositions and forms. He began with street art, particularly tag and graffiti, during his childhood and continued to explore various forms of artistic expression. He obtained a degree in Communication Sciences with a focus on NGOs. During some of his journeys, he was able to admire portraits by Phulani Liebenberg in South Africa and Phoebe Dickenson in London, contemporary artists whose work showed different uses of oil. These experiences aroused his interest in oil painting. In 2017, he began studying portrait drawing with graphite and its various techniques under the guidance of Fátima Yedro. By 2020, he started drawing with pencil based on his own photographs. In 2023, he travelled to Florence, Italy, to deepen his knowledge in art, especially in oil portrait techniques at the Accademia ADA.
His latest project, "Voices from the Sidewalks," involves painting people experiencing homelessness, bridging his background in social communication with his artistic expression.
