September 27 – October 7, 2025. OnArt Gallery, Florence, Italy
Ignacio Duncan took part in the collective exhibition Oltre il Nome at OnArt Gallery in Florence, presenting five paintings from his ongoing series Tales of Silence: Ema, Ema II, Anna, Ariadna and Iris.
The series delved into themes of serenity, introspection, and the silent resonance between emotion and form. Duncan’s figures —immersed in soft light and enveloped by delicate fabrics— invited viewers to a state of stillness, where gesture and breath became vessels of quiet contemplation.
Through his refined use of oil and chiaroscuro, rooted in classical technique yet driven by contemporary sensitivity, Duncan offered an intimate space of calm and reflection. Tales of Silence extended his pursuit of visual serenity, continuing the path begun with Mare di Sogni and reaffirming his dedication to painting as an act of meditation and human connection.
September 13–26, 2024. Gadarte Gallery, Florence, Italy
Ignacio Duncan’s solo exhibition Mare di Sogni was first presented at Gadarte Gallery in Florence, Italy, from September 13th to 26th, 2024. The exhibition featured a series of eight oil paintings portraying semi-nude female figures resting upon infinite beds, their bodies wrapped in flowing fabrics and enveloped in warm tones. Each painting invited the viewer into a moment of introspection and serenity, reflecting Duncan’s desire to offer a visual sanctuary amid the chaos and speed of modern life.
The exhibition also included a site-specific curatorial element: white fabrics draped around empty frames hung on the gallery walls, echoing the visual language of the paintings and further immersing the viewer in the emotional atmosphere of the show. These voids served as symbolic spaces, inviting silence, breath, and contemplation.
Mare di Sogni was conceived as an antidote to anxiety, a way of slowing time and reconnecting with softness. Through poetic imagery and a deeply personal creative process, Duncan opened a door for others to experience the same meditative calm he finds in the act of painting.
